Classic Kenya in a week: the Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli with Kilimanjaro on the horizon and the Taita Hills sanctuary, before reaching the coast.
Why it is unique
Four different landscapes in a single week: the plains of the Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha with a walk among the giraffes and zebras of Crescent Island, Amboseli with Kilimanjaro on the horizon, and the Taita Hills sanctuary, where the lodge stands on stilts overlooking a waterhole. Then the sea.
When to go
Lions, leopards and cheetahs live in the Masai Mara all year round. Between July and October the herds of the Great Migration arrive. April and May, with the long rains, are the most difficult months for the tracks. From July to December the Masai Mara entry fee doubles: the details.
What the journey is like
You spend many hours on the road: around 5 from Nairobi to the Masai Mara and as many again from Naivasha to Amboseli, partly on dirt roads. It is the price of seeing four areas in seven days.
Good to know
You will need the eTA electronic travel authorisation and, since 5 October 2026, Kenya’s compulsory health insurance (US$44). The price ends on arrival at the coast: the beach stay is added separately, in Watamu or Diani.
