Notice under article 122 of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003), articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Italian Data Protection Authority’s Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021. You can change your choices at any time from “Manage cookies” at the bottom of every page. The Italian text is the reference version.
1. Cookies and similar tools
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser so it can read them again on later visits. Other tools work in a similar way, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). On this page we call them all “cookies” and divide them into two groups: technical ones, which make the website work and do not require consent, and third-party statistics and marketing ones, which we use only if you accept them.
The data controller is Trinova S.r.l.s., trading as Weltweg, Via Sant’Efisio 24, 09028 Sestu (CA), Italy, VAT no. 04201390921, email hello@weltweg.com. For all other processing see the privacy notice.
2. How consent works
On your first visit a banner appears with three choices: Accept, Reject or Choose category by category. Until you choose, only technical tools are active: the Google tag is not even loaded and your browser does not contact Google. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and closing the banner with the “×” counts as rejecting.
Your choice is stored in the ww_cc cookie for 180 days; after that the banner appears again. To be able to demonstrate consent, we record your choice on our server with a random code, the date, the banner version, the page and a fingerprint of your IP address from which the address cannot be derived.
You can change your mind whenever you like, including to withdraw consent you gave: or use “Manage cookies” at the bottom of every page. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings: on your next visit the banner will appear again.
3. Technical cookies and tools (always active)
They make the website and the services you request work, and therefore do not require consent (art. 122(1) of the Italian Privacy Code). They are all first-party, i.e. set and read only by weltweg.com.
| Name | Type | What it is for | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ww_cc | cookie | remembers your cookie choices | 180 days |
__Host-ww_area | cookie | keeps you logged in to the “My trip” area after you enter with code and surname or with your personal link; page scripts cannot read it | 30 days, or until you log out |
ww_lingua | local storage | remembers the language you chose, so we do not suggest changing it again | until you delete it |
ww_salvati | local storage | keeps the trips you saved in your browser, and only there (up to 20) | until you delete it |
ww_lettera_iscritto | local storage | remembers that you already subscribed to the newsletter, so we do not suggest it again | until you delete it |
ww_arrivo, ww_utm | session storage | remember the page you arrived from and any campaign parameters; they reach us only if you send an enquiry, together with the form | until the tab is closed |
ww_con, ww_con_visita | session storage | keep the code of the partner (creator or agency) whose link brought you here and note that the visit has already been counted, so that any enquiry you send is attributed to them and they receive their commission; they contain only the partner’s code, no personal data, and the code reaches us only if you send an enquiry | until the tab is closed |
Weltweg staff also use a session cookie to access the internal back office: it does not concern website visitors.
The website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which may set its own technical security cookies to tell people from automated programs, for example __cf_bm, lasting 30 minutes.
4. Basic statistics without cookies
To know how many people visit the website and which pages they read we use Umami, a statistics program installed on our own server, which uses neither cookies nor browser storage and creates no profiles. It counts visits, page views and some actions, such as submitting a form, in aggregate form; the data are not shared with third parties. If you have enabled “Do Not Track” in your browser, Umami does not record your visit. This tool is treated like technical cookies and does not require consent; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used.
5. Google statistics and marketing (only with consent)
If you accept the relevant categories in the banner, we load the Google tag provided by Google Ireland Ltd, which may set Google cookies in your browser:
| Category | Tool and cookies | What it is for | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Statistics | Google Analytics: _ga, _ga_<ID> | measuring visits, traffic sources and page use with more detailed statistics | up to 2 years |
| Marketing | Google Ads: _gcl_au and Google cookies on its own domains | measuring how many enquiries come from our advertising campaigns on Google | up to 90 days for _gcl_au; for the others, as stated in Google’s policy |
| Marketing | Weltweg: ww_con (local storage) | remembers the code of the partner who introduced you to us even if you come back on another visit, so that they receive their commission; it contains only the code and its expiry date, no personal data; it is deleted if you withdraw consent from “Manage cookies” | 60 days |
We use Google’s consent mode: until you accept, the tag is not loaded; if you accept statistics only, advertising signals remain denied. Google processes the data as an independent controller or as our processor depending on the service, including in the United States, with the safeguards of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Find out more: Google’s privacy information for partners and how Google uses cookies. We do not use profiling cookies from other providers.
6. Third-party content and links
Map on trip pages. The Google Maps map is not loaded when the page opens: it appears only if you press the button to see it. From that moment your browser connects to Google, which may read or set its own cookies under its policy.
WhatsApp and social media. The WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube buttons are simple links: they load nothing until you click them. If you click them, you move to the provider’s service, which applies its own cookies and privacy policy.
Payments. Card payment takes place on Stripe’s page, outside our website: there Stripe uses its own technical and anti-fraud cookies, under its policy.
7. Managing cookies in your browser
As well as through “Manage cookies”, you can block or delete cookies and local storage in the settings of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge or other browsers, usually under privacy and security. If you also block technical tools, some features stop working: for example you will not stay logged in to the “My trip” area or find your saved trips.
8. Rights and contacts
You can exercise the rights under articles 15-22 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, described in the privacy notice, by writing to hello@weltweg.com, and lodge a complaint with the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali or the supervisory authority of your country.
We update this page whenever we add, remove or change a tool.
