Eleven days by the sea in Mozambique, in three different places: the Machangulo peninsula facing Maputo, the Sava dunes on the Inhambane coast and a beach bungalow on Bazaruto Island, in the marine park. The price covers the international flight, the domestic flight from Vilanculos, ground services, the boat transfers and insurance.
Why it is unique
Three different Indian Ocean beaches, far from mass tourism: lodges with a few bungalows, a coral reef in front of your room, dunes tens of metres high on Bazaruto. This is the Mozambique of fishermen and dhows, without big hotels.
When to go
The best months are May to November: dry, warm but not humid, with a calm sea. January to March is very hot, with a risk of cyclones. Humpback whales pass from June to October.
What the trip is like
A beach holiday with road and boat transfers, without a guide travelling with you: about 500 km from Maputo to Sava and 320 km to Vilanculos, then an hour and a half by boat to Bazaruto. A night in Maputo breaks up the journey.
Good to know
Italians enter without a visa for up to 30 days, with an electronic travel authorisation to request online at least 48 hours before departure. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended. The “from” price applies in low season; from 25 March to 30 April and from 20 July to 15 October it costs about €680 more per person. Departures run from 16 January to 11 December; between 12 December and 15 January only on request, at peak-season prices.

1Day 1Maputo and Machangulo
Welcome at Maputo airport, transfer to the marina and boat to the Machangulo Beach Lodge, about an hour and a half. Dinner and overnight in an ocean-view room.

2Day 2Machangulo
A beach day on the peninsula, with the lodge’s non-motorised activities. Half board.

3Day 3Machangulo
Beach, kayaking and walks between the dunes and the lagoon. Half board.

4Day 4Maputo
Boat back to the marina and transfer to the Polana Serena Hotel, the capital’s grand historic hotel. Bed and breakfast.

5Day 5To the Sava dunes
About 500 km along the coast, up to 8 hours by road, to Sava Dunes, in Inhambane province. Ocean-view cottage, half board with house drinks and snorkelling gear.

A free day of snorkelling, bodyboarding and beach walks. Half board.

The quote is free. On confirmation you pay a 30% deposit, and the balance 45 days before departure, by card or bank transfer, with no extra fees. Your money is protected by the package travel law.
