From the far north to the islands: the forests of Amber Mountain, the Red Tsingy, the limestone canyons of Ankarana and then the journey down to Nosy Be and its archipelago. An itinerary that brings together gentle trekking, endemic wildlife and the sea.
It combines in one journey three landscapes that rarely go together: the montane rainforest of Amber Mountain with its waterfalls and lemurs, the laterite formations of the Red Tsingy, and the pinnacles, caves and dry forests of Ankarana. Then the sea at Nosy Be, with three boat trips among the islands of the archipelago.
The first half is on the move, with a private driver and an Italian-speaking guide between Diego Suarez, the Three Bays and Ankarana, and gentle treks in the parks. The second half is more relaxed, based on Nosy Be, with shared boat excursions and picnic lunches: Nosy Iranja and the lemur island, Nosy Komba and the Nosy Tanikely marine park, Nosy Sakatia with its sea turtles.
From May to November, in the dry season. Between January and March the north of the island is exposed to cyclones.
The entry visa, €30 per person, and the single supplement are not included. At Ankarana there are suspension bridges and rocky stretches: closed shoes and good mobility are needed.
