The right month for a trip to Botswana depends on what you want to see and where you go: from June to August the Okavango Delta is flooded and mokoro safaris are at their best. October is very hot. The seasons
Jun–Aug · Dry and cool. Between 24 and 27 °C by day, around 5 °C at dawn. The Delta is flooded: it is mokoro season.
Sep–Oct · Hot and dry. Rising heat, up to 38–40 °C in October. Wildlife highly concentrated around water.
Nov–Mar · Summer rains. Thunderstorms, green landscapes, young animals and lower prices; some areas are hard to reach.

Not to be missed
- Big Five (June–October): In the dry season the grass is short and animals gather around water: this is when you are most likely to see all five.
- Flooded Okavango Delta (June–September): Water from the Angolan rains reaches the Delta in the middle of the dry season: channels navigable by mokoro and wildlife concentrated on the islands.
