To enter Namibia as tourists, Italian citizens need a visa. The rule stems from the principle of reciprocity: Namibia requires one from citizens of countries that impose one on Namibians, including Italy and much of Western Europe.
What it costs
1,600 Namibian dollars per adult, about €80, with reductions for children and no charge for those under six. The tourist visa allows stays of up to 30 days.
Online or on arrival
You can apply in advance through the electronic procedure of the Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs, or on arrival at the main points of entry, including Windhoek’s international airport. Applying online avoids the queue at passport control and any surprises over payment: it is the option we recommend.
The passport
You need a passport with at least six months’ remaining validity and blank pages for stamps. This check is genuinely carried out, and it is worth verifying before you book your flights.
Fees and rules may change: always check the official sources listed before you travel.
